Swaddled: Sage Stories to Wrap Mothers in Love is an award-winning collection of personal stories from women navigating the emotional realities of motherhood, from joy and uncertainty to identity, grief, resilience and hope. Cassidy wrote the collection so that mothers could feel wrapped in the same love they instinctively give everyone else, drawing on the idea of matrescence, the physical, emotional, psychological and social transition into motherhood first named by anthropologist Dana Raphael. The stories explore experiences many mothers carry privately and offer connection and reassurance through every stage of the journey, with a simple message at their heart: every baby deserves to be welcomed into the world, and every mother deserves to be welcomed into motherhood.
